World Day for the Prevention of Violence and Abuse against Children and Youth - 19 November
WWSF created the World Day for the Prevention of Child Abuse, on 19 November 2000, to alert and support local and national initiatives that contribute to achieving a world fit for Children. In 2016, the UN created the Sustainable Development Goal with the hashtag Target 16.2: “End abuse, exploitation, trafficking, and all forms of violence against and torture of children.” The Day was established to strengthen and accelerate efforts for the prevention of violence against children and youth worldwide.
In 2010, WWSF launched the 19 days kit "19 Days of Activism for the Prevention of Violence Against Children and Youth", an annual campaign from 1 to 19 November, offering a practical kit to help organize annually prevention events, and hold leaders to account.
Take action: Organize your 19 Days Campaign for prevention of violence and abuse against Children and Youth (1 - 19 November)
With a child dying every five minutes as a result of violence, it is vital to mobilize not only governments, but also youth, faith-based actors, and all concerned citizens.
We invite civil society organizations and NGOs to organize awareness-raising activities in their communities using our communication material, UN CRC. The “19 Days Kit of activism includes 19 themes with practical ideas for action, call for youth engagement, interfaith collaboration, and forming WWSF community circles of compassion.
