WWSF - Mali Sheep

Messages of support

Her Majesty Queen Rania Al-Abdullah of Jordan
" Child abuse is a global problem – one that has no respect for boundaries of geography, culture, or creed. Every year, tens of thousands of children are murdered and millions more are brutalized, often by the very people who should love them most, and on whom their survival depends. Too often, the suffering of these innocent victims goes unnoticed and unaddressed, hidden behind closed curtains and doors of secrecy, silence and shame. That is why this World Day for Prevention of Child Abuse is so important. By raising awareness, we can help stop child abuse and neglect before they start.[2006] "

Mali Sheep Report 2010

Mali sheep micro credit project – A different gift!

In 2010, 5’365 rural women in 21 villages received a micro-credit loan from the NGO Prométhée in Mali. Thanks to contributions and sponsorships received by the Women’s World Summit Foundation WWSF, 5’500 Swiss Francs could be sent to Prométhée for the economic empowerment of rural women in 2010.

We take this opportunity of thanking all the WWSF members and friends who chose to make some of their gifts differently by offering a sheep to raise for rural women in place of a more traditional gift.

The Prométée annual activity report is available upon request from wwsf@wwsf.ch
