Over 200 participants from 32 villages of Block Sohna, including Sarpanch (Village Council) and other Panchayat (Village Council) members, attended the award function for Anita, organized by the Rural Development Centre of Navjyoti India Foundation on 6 November 2009.

Ms Ujala Bedi highlighted the initiatives and work done by Ms Anita in the field of environment, against female feticide, etc. She is constantly working for the women to raise their voices and break barriers that impede their progress and self-reliance.

Ms Anita then thanked all the people that have empowered her to do this work and acknowledged WWSF for giving her this honor.

He mentioned that nowaday’s girls are doing better than boys. He stressed that everyone should work with sincerity like Ms Anita to make this world worth living.

Ms Anita promised that the award money will be utilized for setting up a small unit for women to start some income generation activity, which will not only surge their economic status, but also empower them in enhancing their confidence. She asked other women to share their views.
